Membership
The Bible teaches that membership in a local church is the normal expectation for a healthy Christian. Both Christ and Paul pointed us toward membership for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through our membership process by which to join Redeemer City Church.
Throughout the membership process, you have the opportunity to hear our story, mission, basic beliefs, theological distinctives, and our membership expectations. All prospective members must attend our membership orientation.
OUR 5 STEP PROCESS
1
ATTEND OUR NEXT MEMBERSHIP ORIENTATION
If you would like to learn more about our church and what it would mean to commit to this congregation, you are welcome to attend our membership orientation. This orientation is required if you plan on pursuing formal membership in our church, and is also a great forum for asking any questions you may have about Redeemer City Church. Upon completion, those who attend our membership orientation are able, but not obligated, to fill out the membership questionnaire. Please register for our next membership orientation below.
2
COMPLETE OUR MEMBERSHIP QUESTIONNAIRE
After attending our membership orientation, if you are interested in pursuing membership you will fill out a membership questionnaire. This will give us an opportunity to learn more about you and how we might better serve you before the membership interview. If married, we ask that both husband and wife complete an individual questionnaire.
3
MEMBERSHIP INTERVIEW
In a 45 minute meeting, the prospective member (married couples will be interviewed together) meets with an elder to provide basic biographical information and recount God’s converting work in his or her life. This discussion fosters community with those pursuing membership by providing the pastors an opportunity to spend time with each potential member. The conversational setting provides an outlet for any lingering questions you may have about the church. The prospective member would then sign the statement of faith and church covenant, and then the questionnaire will be reviewed by the Lead Pastor and pastoral team.
4
ELDER RECOMMENDATION
Your questionnaire and testimony will be reviewed by our Lead Pastor and pastoral team. Once the pastoral team and the perspective member are all in agreement with moving forward in the process. We then move to the final stage of the process.
5
CONGREGATIONAL AFFIRMATION
During a member meeting, the pastor briefly describes the prospective member’s testimony and presents them to the church for membership. By majority vote, the individual is affirmed into membership. This begins the excitement of doing life with others in the church as we seek to be a family that makes disciples of Jesus and transforms the world!
