REDEEMER'S HOUSE
Redeemer’s House is a ministry of Redeemer City Church. At Redeemer’s House, we believe that biblical justice is a foretaste of the kingdom of heaven here on earth. It is the reign of God’s grace, coupled with the destruction of sin.
Throughout the scriptures, God consistently calls his people to share his heart for justice, for the marginalized, for the oppressed. In Amos, we particularly see God’s heart for justice:
“I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” (Amos 5:21-24)
If we turn a blind eye to injustice and think God is pleased by our gatherings and songs, we are kidding ourselves. God desires and God requires that his people seek justice and seek the welfare of the marginalized.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to see God redeem brokenness to beauty, one relationship at a time.
FOUNDATIONAL VERSE
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. (Isaiah 61:1)
Jesus came to set people free!
PURPOSE
To see restoration in the life of the returning citizen, their family, and the community by providing housing and programs to reduce recidivism, promote transformation, restore dignity, and lead people to Jesus.
OUR APPROACH
We will provide a safe, stable housing environment that allows the returning citizen to focus on reentry while being in a supportive environment geared toward physical and spiritual life change. In the housing unit, we will have a live-in, certified peer specialist to provide support, guidance, and experience to the returning citizens. The peer specialist is someone who has previously spent time in prison, maintained a productive lifestyle upon release, and has been certified through training as a peer specialist.
Beyond that, we will provide wrap around services to aid the transition of our returning citizens into society. Services will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Housing
- Behavioral health and/or substance abuse counseling
- Case management services
- Recovery network
- Workforce development
- Spiritual care/Bible study (Optional)
- A community of support
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that when the dignity of the returning citizen is restored, it brings healing and restoration to the family unit and to the community at large. All returning citizens will be reentering our communities; therefore, it is a benefit to the community to reinforce the dignity and seek the restoration of our returning citizens. With the benefit of transitional support, returning citizens are less likely to commit further crimes and are more likely to succeed; thereby becoming a positive influence in the community. More importantly, we believe that when we seek the restoration and dignity of our returning citizens, we can also better communicate the restoring grace of Jesus.
